Decathlon is a French multinational created in 1976, dedicated to design, manufacturing and distribution of sport goods with a strong development based on their own brands and a very large offer related on more than 110 different sport activities. Their strong positioning is mainly based on a strong commitment of innovation in each part of value chain: from research to development until sales, including also design, manufacturing and logistics, with an environmental conscience. The French international group is now active in more than 54 countries, with more than 160 outlets in Spain.
Decathlon required to change their integral lighting of its main logistics and warehouse site in Getafe (Madrid) and all its close facilities, as well as the outdoor lighting. Their objectives were the following:
- Improve working conditions for employees: better visibility, especially in areas with more activity. Reduction of visual fatigue and reduction of risk accidents.
- Energy efficiency: Electricity consumption savings and reduction of maintenance costs.
- Lighting control: Facilitate the regulation and control of differentiated zones from different devices, depending on the application and activity at each moment of the day.
- Sustainability: be in line with the company’s values of environmental responsibility, saving energy consumption with the use of LED technology.
In alliance with Spoluz Lighting, Tungsram analyzed the needs and we finally introduced the best solution to achieve the objectives in each scenario.
- Tungsram High Bay with a lifetime of 100 000 hours and 168 lm/W efficiency were installed in clear zones of the loading docks.
- The corridor areas were also illuminated with Tungsram High Bay with a specific optic to achieve with maximum performance in the illumination of these work areas.
- In the robotized Pocket zone, LED Mariner luminarias were installed as a perfect alternative to LFL traditional lamps, in high bay and low bay applications, with high luminous efficacy up to 126 lm/W and with flicker-free drivers.
- The exterior lighting was illuminated with Tungsram ALIx outdoor luminaires. With this luminaire selection we achieved excellent vertical and horizontal illumination and minimal glare. They are highly resistant to humidity and other external factors; they also have a long life and allow significant reduction of energy consumption.
- The Service Center zone needs different conditions in different areas. Tungsram High Bay was installed again in the work areas. In the offices and meeting rooms, a pleasant atmosphere has been created with Edgelit Premium Panels: a perfect LED solution to replace fluorescent lamps in false ceilings, proving a uniform light without visible diodes or reflections, combining an attractive design with an energy efficiency up to 120 lm/W.
- And in toilets and corridors, Slim Downlighters with a lifetime up to 45 000 hours.
- The DALI lumens make it possible to define groups of luminaires according to the activity carried out in each zone, and to easily regulate the switching on and off, as well as the lumens. For this, a website was created to provide a detailed map of lighting by area, easily accessible from a tablet or smartphone, for indoor and outdoor as well.
As a result of the implementations, general lighting, has been improved in diaphanous and corridor areas. The site is now equipped with lighting easy control of all LED luminaires in a luminous working environment, which improves productivity and reduced the risk of accidents.
