Εarlier this month we reported that car-sharing giant DriveNow will be coming to Budapest.The company began their official operations yesterday, and they are the third car-sharing provider in the Hungarian capital after GreenGo and MOL Limo.
In the first week, customers can choose to drive 8 different kinds of BMW and MINI models. Their fleet currently numbers 200 cars in total. DriveNow, which is one of the subsidiary companies of car-sharing firm SHARE NOW, is the third company of this kind to serve Budapest’s residents, as communicated by Forbes. After their announcement on April 11th to enter the Hungarian market, their cars have been rolled out onto Budapest’s streets. Customers can choose from by the minute, hourly and daily usage fees. According to DriveNow, in the last 2 and a half weeks, over 10,000 people have registered for their service. Their fleet includes BMW 1 series, 2 series Active Tourer, and BMW X 1 and X2 models. The MINIs on offer are their 3- and 5-door models, the MINI Cabrio. The firm is also introducing BMW’s fully electric i3 later on.
In addition to the minute and daily prices that Hungarian users are accustomed to, the company will offer hourly fees as well (3, 6, and 9 hours). Prices range from €0.30-€0.40 per minute, but renting-by-the-hour can reduce it to €0.20 per minute. The service can be accessed through the DriveNow app and covers a 63-square-kilometre area of Budapest’s central regions. Customers can leave this zone, but they can only end their car usage within the designated 63-square-kilometre area. Users have to be at least 21 years old and must have a valid driving licence. They can register via the DriveNow app, or on drive-now.hu. Registration will cost €15 till the 29th of May, after which it will be increased to €30. In both cases, new customers receive a free 25-minute period of use. DriveNow’s parent company SHARE NOW has over 4 million customers and operates in 30 cities.
