Already 19,000 fully electric and 20,000 rechargeable hybrids, or a total of 39,000 green license plates, have been put into operation in Hungary.
Within 10 years, their number could increase tenfold, E.ON Hungária Group revealed at a professional event, according to profitline.hu.
Purely electric cars covered 42 million kilometers in 2020 with electricity from the domestic public charging grid.
In the case of conventional autos, a kilometer costs about HUF 35; with an EV, it is only HUF 9. Some eight out of 10 drivers would switch to an EV if they could charge it at work.
