Those who work in innovation and new technologies are the new pioneers, bringing the Greek economy in line with technological developments, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Monday at the “Digital Economy Forum 2018” held in Athens.

“The people who are involved in innovation and new technologies are the new pioneers, the critical group of people connecting the Greek economy with the future of innovation and technological developments,” Tsipras said at the forum organized by the Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications Enterprises (SEPE).
Digital transformation, the prime minister said, touches several aspects of daily life. “All transactions between people and businesses with the state will be carried through one gateway, simply and fast, from people’s homes or office, through a mobile phone or a tablet,” Tsipras said. The new digital gate will make the public sector “modern and flexible, based on thecommunication of all state information systems,” he noted.

Greece going digital a prerequisite for overcoming the crisis, Mr. Tzikas says

“Making Greece digital is a prerequisite for overcoming the crisis and building the country of our dreams, a reformed Greece, that emphasizes technology,” the chairman of the Board of the Greek IT and Communications Operations Association Tassos Tzikas said on Monday, on the sidelines of the Federation of Hellenic Information Technology & Communications Enterprises (SEPE) conference “Digital economy forum 2018” held in Athens.

“We have no more time,” Tzikas said, adding: “Greece lost many wagers in the past decades and must transform itself digitally in order to overcome the crisis. This is what we are discussing at the current conference; that a big technological leap is a condition for the country to change and overcome the crisis.”

Tzikas stressed that Greece has a lot of businesses and human resources that constitute a technological force that can change the country, as long as there is an appropriate framework. “I think we will do it because we all agree that technology is an essential prerequisite for the big leap forward,” he added.
