The Hungarian Ambassador in Greece, Mr. Erik Haupt, gave an interview to the Financial Review magazine, commenting on issues concerning the current affairs of Hungary.

Having changed the mindset and the accumulated residue of many years in a short time, Hungary has managed to transform an economy of absolute state control, also characterized by the strict conditions of the Eastern bloc, to a literally market economy.

However, what is now in the spotlight of the European public opinion is not the financial ‘Renaissance’ of Hungary, which certainly should be an example for countries like Greece that continue to suffer from the economic crisis, but the “rigorous” attitude on the issue of refugee.

In the wake of the recent announcements by the European Commission and the dispatch of a Reasoned Opinion to the Visegrad countries, that have not fulfilled their legal obligations in the field of migration, the Financial Review is hosting an interview with the Ambassador of Hungary in Greece and Cyprus, Erik Haupt. The Ambassador talked about Hungary’s economy and economic relations between Greece and Hungary, but did not hesitate to also respond to the difficult issue of refuge relocation and the critical attitude of the EU.
