Hungary has joined the International Solar Alliance (ISA), an initiative launched by India and France, to accelerate its investments in solar energy, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó told public media in New Delhi on Friday, according to a report by state news wire MTI.

On an official visit to India, Szijjártó said countries that can supply at least a significant part of the energy they use themselves will be able to ensure their security as the world heads toward a series of energy supply crises.

He noted that India has placed “great emphasis” on nuclear energy, just as Hungary is accelerating the upgrade of its own nuclear power plant, in Paks.

The Paks expansion and speeding up solar power investments will help Hungary make 90% of its energy production carbon-neutral by 2030, he added.
