Hungary will be the first country in Europe to host the World Robot Olympiad (WRO) for young people, on 8-10 November 2019, Ministry of Human Capacities said.

The XIV. World Robot Olympiad will be organized by Edutus College and held in Győr, North-West Hungary, with over 3,000 participants from 65 countries. They will be competing in four age groups and in four categories (maths, sciences, technology and IT), Zoltán Szögi, head of Edutus College and organizer of the event, said.

This year, one of the Hungarian teams, InnoRobot-X from Budapest University of Technology and Economics won second place in the Advanced Robotics Challenge category in Costa Rica, where young people aged between 17-25 measured their skills.

Ministry of Human Capacities added that this year, the WRO Lego Robot Competition was included in the list of competitions that that receive financial support from the state, which is a major step forward in achieving the goals and reducing the labor shortage.

The World Robot Olympiad brings together young people from all over the world to develop their creativity, design and problem-solving skills through challenging and educational robot competitions and activities. The international WRO final takes place once every year in November and teams qualify from national competitions to represent their countries.
