  3. Hungarian-owned startup to debut self-driving solutions at CES

AImotive, a company engaged in the development of self-driving technologies, has announced the completion of a $38 million development cycle, and will continue to develop its chiefly camera-based AI solution with a HUF 9.8 billion investment.

AImotive develops sensors for self-driving vehicles. It already has test cars in operation in France and CA, USA, while its partners include noted manufacturers such as PSA Peugeot Citroën, Chinese SAIC and Volvo.

For this year, the company has plans to launch additional tests on the public roads of Japan, China and other U.S. states.

AImotive will present its innovations in a few days at CES Las Vegas, including aiWare, the prototype of an AI acceleration hardware solution.

AImotive’s unique ecosystem of aiDrive, aiSim and aiWare aims to bring camera-first AI-based self-driving to users around the world. On display at the AImotive booth, aiDrive will handle user-selected scenarios in the photo-realistic simulation environment of aiSim. This interactive demo will offer visitors a chance to experience AImotive’s test-driven development first hand. Virtual testing accelerates the development of autonomous technology while also making it safer and cost-effective.

The AI accelerator is specifically designed to handle the challenges of high-resolution input image recognition.
Uniquely geared towards the challenges of self-driving, aiWare offers high-performance, with low latency, at a fraction of the power consumption of current GPU-based systems. aiWare is also the first AI accelerator to be compatible withthe newly announced NNEF standard. A proof-of-concept chip is currently in preproduction and AImotive aims to debut the solution in its cars over 2018.
