Agriculture & Food Industry

Investing in innovation

Many “coming from the future” innovations have been implemented in Hungarian agri-food production processes, resulting in improved quality and competitiveness. Examples include:

AGRICULTURAL PRODUCTION

  • Digital “smart” conventional and hydroponic crops
  • Greenhouse applications “turn-key” type
  • Design and construction of grain processing plants
  • Complete farm machinery solutions
  • Advanced “smart” monitoring, telemetry monitoring systems for saving irrigation and lubrication

LIVESTOCK

  • Poultry farm productivity enhancement technologies
  • Breeding and processing of aquatic birds
  • Technologies for pig – breeding – fish breeding units

FOOD PROCESSING

  • Dairy production units “turn-key”
  • Biogas production technologies from fungal residues
  • Raw vegetable oil processing technologies
  • Distillation advancedtechnologies
  • Brewery equipment & machinery technologies
  • Winery Intelligent system of alcoholic fermentation
  • Applications for slaughtering, processing & alteration of poultry, cattle, and pigs
  • Cooling & low-Oxygen Technology
  • Multi-processing for fruits & vegetables

Sustainability and energy footprint

Intensive cultivation and production gradually drain natural resources. Science and Technology offer solutions that provide renewables, environmental protection, and sustainable development. Some important applications in the field of environmental technologies and renewables are:

  • Water Treatment & Management Technologies
  • Wastewater treatment and management technologies
  • Waste water and biogas technologies
  • Innovative biomass energy crops
  • Design & production of photovoltaic pannels
  • Horizontal shaft wind turbines
  • Geothermal energy applications
  • Hydroelectric units

Innovative applications for agricultural and livestock production

The evolution of technology and automation in agricultural and livestock production over the last decade has changed the scene. Hungary, among the leading European countries in the research and development of innovative applications, now has this know-how in our country through the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency.

The application of innovative technologies in agricultural and livestock production enables safer, cheaper, longer and more sustainable production processes. The impassivity of our country towards such technological applications can only be seen as an opportunity.

A representative example is the Horticultural Propagation Material Non-Profit Ltd (HHPMN), which has managed to design and implement high-quality solutions for agricultural production. Their long-term planning has prompted a large number of private sector companies and organizations to heavily invest in the development of Agritech solutions to improve competitiveness and sustainable development of the agricultural sector. That is why today, Hungary is one of the leading European countries influencing developments in agricultural and livestock technology innovation.

Agricultural Products & Foods

Hungarian Agricultural production is made without Genetic Modified Organisms (GMOs), which is reflected in a wide range of foods. Strictly controlled certification schemes apply to all sectors of the agricultural sector in Hungary. The Hungarian Constitution forbids farmers to grow and use genetically modified crops. This ensures the production of agricultural products and processed foods, completely free of Genetically Modified Organisms. Hungary produces premium food in all categories. In recent years, the use of information and communication technologies has become particularly important for agriculture and food production in Hungary. The development of modern processes that comply with the latest trends plays an important role in improving productivity and increasing efficiency.

Hungary’s agricultural products and food – due to its geographical location, climate conditions and high quality applied technologies, are among the best in the world. The agricultural area covers 5,300,000 hectares, almost two-thirds of the country’s total land area. This is one of the highest rates in the world compared to Hungary, while at the same time Hungary is a leader in soil fertility. The country’s fertile land is one of the best in the world, reflecting both the performance and quality of the goods produced.
