Hungarian software company Innovitech is leading a consortium of companies in an HUF 860 million project to develop a robot that can prune grapevines, reducing the need for human capital in a labor-intensive industry, according to state news agency MTI.

Innovitech said the University of Pécs is bringing pruning know-how to the consortium and the Zoltán Bay Research Institute its expertise in robotics. SBS will build the robot and Innovitech will supply the software.

The National Research, Development and Innovation Office is supporting the project with a HUF 618 mln grant.
